We're looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer to join the Music Machine Learning team in Berlin. You will collaborate with scientists and data engineers to develop and operate machine learning models using music meta-data, search queries, or customers’ listening to behavior to improve customer experiences through better recommendations, search ranking, or song sequencing.

Key job responsibilities
As a member of the Amazon Music Machine Learning Team, you will be responsible for leading the effort to invent and improve the ways that customers engage with recommendations in Amazon Music Unlimited, Prime Music, or in their Amazon Music library. You will immerse yourself in a world where one works on creating interactive experiences using machine learning to help users find the music they are in the mood for. You will improve algorithms to pick the perfect tracks, albums, playlists, and stations to play, and build scalable data processing pipelines to help drive the experience. You will own scaling up successful prototypes, implementing reliable automated production workflows and integrations with visual and voice experiences.


· 2+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
· 3+ years of programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
· 4+ years of professional software development experience
· 2+ years of experience as a mentor, tech lead OR leading an engineering team


· 8+ years professional experience in software development
· Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, problem-solving, and complexity analysis
· Knowledge of, at least, one modern programming language such as Java, Python, Scala or C++
· Bachelor’s Degree/Master's Degree in Computer Science or related field
· Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
· Ability to take a project from scoping requirements through actual launch of the project
· Experience building workflows involving large datasets and/or machine learning models in production using distributed computing and big data processing concepts and technologies.
· Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
